Writing your own spells is what every practicing Witch should aspires to. The ability to craft your own spells gives you an advantage over “ready made” spells you can find in other places. This is because you will be putting your own emotion and energy into the spell. Through the process of its unique creation, it will be special and meaningful to you, and that is the secret of casting successful spells. So what is a spell? A spell is when you set a specific intention to change energy around you to manifest your desire.

Something that may be misinformed is Spell work isn't done every day. I know some people picture Wiches doing these big rituals every day and that's just not true. Spell work is done when it needs to be done. Mini spells are fun to do every day and that's as simple as brewing a cup of coffee adding some cinnamon with the intention of bringing more abundance in your life.

There are many different forms of spell work: Baneful, Banishing, Binding, Protection, Purification, Healing, Fertility, Love, Prosperity - you can do candle magick, Use poppets, Witches jars, Witches bottles, charms & amulets, Hexes and curses.

The ingredients and tools that you use are purely dependent upon not only what traditional magickal properties they might possess, but also what they mean to you as far as symbology goes.

When beginning to craft your own spell, the first thing you need to do is set an intention. Love? prosperity? protection? Maybe even Journal and Reflect. Why do you want to do this spell? What is your goal? Have you tried nonmagical options? Are you ready for the results from this spell? How long do you expect to wait to achieve this goal? Have a timeline for when you expect to see results. If you want to speed things along use fire magick, a candle spell would be great, add coffee grounds to speed up the process. Decide whether you are going to call upon Deity or guides to help you in your Spell Craft. Decide where are you doing to do the spell? are you going to do it at your alter? are you brining in the elements and want to do it outside? Maybe by a creek or at the beach. Maybe you want to take it outside because you're planning your spell work to work with the moon. When planning your spell decide with you want to time your spell a specific way. Do you want to add in planetary times? Moon phases?

Keep record of your spell work so you know when to try again and how to adjust your spell for next time.

Before you begin your spell you might want to get in the mood. I like to Cleanse myself and my area before I do my workings. You can use Smoke cleansing, wipe down home with four thieves vinegar, or cleanse your energy with a selenite wand. Whatever feels right for you. After that I like to center myself with a short visualization while I have incense burning that corresponds to my intention of the spell and then I'll cleanse and charge all my ingredients, Asking the herb/crystal/oil to help me in my spell.

There are different ways to set up the wording of your spells. They can be as simple as a two line charge to enforce your will, rhyming couplets, eloquent and lengthy prose to charge the spell to the energy of your will, or simply the use of repeating or chanting a single word over and over again. I like to do short rhyming words or even just changing a single word over and over again. My son likes to smoke cleanse his room (hes been afraid of monsters or something all of a sudden idk) so to give him a little magickal boost, and help him get rid of the "monsters", I gave him a little incantation which actually helps him with his fears. I actually got it off pinterest "Smoke of Air, Fire of Earth, Bless and Cleanse this home and hearth. Drive away all harm and fear so only good may entire here"

I've always wanted to create my own incantation for this but I really like it, its short and simple and he seems to get it

Everything that you put into the spell, the ingredients, the words, the time of day, etc come together with your desire, emotion, and belief to bring about your desired outcome. Now, here are the things you will want to do while creating your spell. Make sure to write down an outline for the spell on paper so you won't forget anything. Even if your spell sounds silly as you write it, keep writing, as long as it is coming from your heart, and is for an intense desire that you have. Unless it is an emergency situation, plan out the best timing for when to cast the spell. You will need to take into consideration planetary influences, moon phases, etc. When you have finished your spell, write it down in your Book of Shadows. Record the results of your spell, and any feelings you had while casting it in your Book of Shadows Revise the spell as necessary, as you figure out what went right and what went wrong.

I hope you found this quick guide helpful! The most important part is that you create something that is authentic to you.
